August 11: Reach Out WorldWide (ROWW) deployed to New Lexington and Crooksville, OH, following catastrophic flash flooding that brought approximately three inches of rain per hour and impacted communities across Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia. ROWW mobilized within eight hours of the disaster.
August 12: ROWW was granted access to the affected disaster zone, allowing the team to begin assisting residents before additional response organizations arrived. Our team was the only team with permission to work in the disaster zone at this time.
August 13: Muck out work began. The ROWW Team split into two crews to muck out two houses. In addition to this, our team rescued 3 animals and completed one demolition project.
August 14: ROWW continued muck out work while our Incident Commander, Jill, worked on distribution drops in a nearby town called Corning. Our volunteers completed 6 muck outs throughout the day.
August 15: This was one of the biggest days on the deployment, with 7 houses mucked out and 7 demolition projects completed between 3 different volunteer teams.
August 16: Due to bad weather, Crooksville re-flooded, which delayed the muck out process; however, our volunteers worked to perform 15 water rescues!
August 17, 18: On the last days of the deployment, our volunteers worked to clear debris from roadways to allow easier access in and out. They removed flood debris and fallen trees.
