ROWW is incredibly fortunate to have two exceptional volunteers, Ali & John, who have poured their hearts and souls into supporting those affected by the devastating Eaton Fires in Los Angeles. From day one of our deployment back in January, they have demonstrated unwavering dedication, compassion, and selflessness — perfectly embodying the mission of Reach Out WorldWide. For more than six monthes, they’ve shown up consistently, bringing energy, empathy, and strength to every task. Their commitment has made a profound difference in the lives of those impacted by the fires and helped build a strong presence for ROWW in the Altadena and Pasadena communities. John and Ali have been longtime friends of ours and supporters of all things ROWW for well over a decade! Much of what ROWW has accomplished during this deployment is thanks to their tireless efforts. We are deeply grateful for everything they have done — and continue to do. Deployment Update! The Rolling Fork River near Bos Deployment Update! The Rolling Fork River near Boston, KY crested at 52.61 ft being the 4th largest crest recorded with the largest being 55.2 ft in 1937. ROWW had boots on the ground starting April 4th, with the goal of performing as many muck-outs and debris removals as possible. ROWW worked alongside the local community and other responding organizations. Each day, the ROWW team of volunteers met at the Boston Community Center, under the leadership of Jill Ashlock, with a plan of action to complete work orders throughout the surrounding counties. Along with the 76 muck-outs performed, our volunteers also did 7 mold remediations, 2 building demos, rebuilt fencing for horses, rescued animals, performed various home repairs, amongst many other things. For this deployment, Waterstep provided our team with mold remediation bleach-stations to use to get rid of mold in people’s homes, to provide them a safe and clean environment to come back to. We were also provided a generous $1,000 donation from Buzick Construction which we used on various projects throughout the deployment. Over the course of deployment, our volunteers clocked 588 hours, working tirelessly to help the locals in the community. Many of these volunteers were affected by the flooding; stepping up to help their fellow neighbors.
