“May 9th – The ROWW team deployed to Lincoln County, MS, after severe weather and tornados impacted the area and the surrounding communities. According to the National Weather Service, several tornados touched down on May 6th, ranging from EF1 to EF3. The EF3 tornado length was 69.8 miles! In many areas, the damage is significant with lost power, ripped up roofs/homes, and fallen trees.

Our mission now is to help the families and individuals affected recover their personal belongings and remove debris from the surrounding areas. ROWW is also working in saw teams to remove fallen trees from roadways and yards.”

May 10 – Our teams started the day by surveying the damage left behind and setting up their base location. ROWW then partnered with 8 Days of Hope to distribute food to the locals around lunchtime.

May 11 – The day started with a roof tarping project for a homeowner. Our volunteers helped spread a tarp across the areas of the roof that were damaged by the storm. Our team then worked with 8 Days of Hope to distribute 50 meals to 30 families.

May 12,13,14 – Our team worked on the demolition of a flooded home with a missing roof. They worked in saw teams to clear lingering debris as well. With the help of 8 Days of Hope, our volunteers distributed 84 meals to families. In the latter part of the day, our team worked to clean up a farm. They helped rebuild a fence and gathered the chickens on the farm to put inside.

May 15, 16, 17 – Over the weekend, our team of volunteers continued home assessments. They assisted a homeowner with tarping their roof and clearing leftover debris from their yard. They helped reconstruct a cattle fence that had been destroyed by the storm. With this came some major debris clearing. They brought in tractors, hot saws, and a logger crew to assist.
