Tennessee Tornado 2020

A series of large tornadoes(EF3) touched down in West and Middle Tennessee on the night of March 2 and into the morning of March 3, 2020, including one that hit downtown Nashville and another that impacted areas just west of Cookeville. Twenty-six people were killed by the tornadoes, more than 300 were injured, and more than 70,000 structures lost power which lasted into the following week. As initial reports became available of lives lost and thousands of homes damaged or destroyed, ROWW prepped for response in order to plan and conduct potential tree removal, roof tarping and debris removal operations in support of the victims. Together with Warren Causey of  Siren Project/His Hands Church and Nicki Avila of Hands On Nashville (HON) we began outreach and deployment. Our partners at Lowe’s Home Improvement were integral with supplies and volunteer labor while we aided in the Hermitage area in eastern Nashville area. On the 11th day of the deployment we finished up a few jobs and prepped for our team’s departure.

Total number of volunteer hours – 1242 Hours

Total Number of work orders – 8 Roofs tarped, clear fallen trees (multiple), and debris removed throughout the deployment at each site.
